Charlene Green Hulen, 95, of Andrews, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Charlene was born on December 19, 1929, in Lubbock, Texas to Elan Murriel Addington Green and Charles Hudson Green. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star; a charter member of the Andrews chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and the Andrews Garden Club. Charlene and her late husband Lee were the owners and operators of Hulen's Jewelry Store in Andrews from 1955 to 1993 when ownership passed to their son Robert Hulen. Charlene enjoyed taking care of her customers, especially when it came to creating Wedding and Baby Shower Registries.
Charlene was born and raised in Lubbock by her parents, and after their early death by her beloved grandparents and aunt Boncy and uncle Earl Bloodworth. She graduated from Lubbock High School, and a few days later married Lee on June 1, 1947. They met her senior year when she was a Dual Education (DE) student at Zales Jewelry. He was recently out of the Navy and also worked at Zales Jewelry. When they opened their own store, one of their own missions was to sponsor DE students and train them in jewelry making and customer relations.
Charlene's strength came from her faith and love of the Lord. She was a prayer warrior, and if she was praying for you, you knew the Lord was listening. She was constantly reading her Bible, Daily Bread and other Christian literature, and sharing her faith. She touched many lives, encouraging all to become closer to God and introducing new believers to Christ.
Charlene was generous and kind to everyone, and she especially loved her family and would do anything for them. They loved her deeply and will miss her.
