Charlene, affectionately known as "Nana", was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was the first child of six born to George and Mary Boudreaux. She grew up in Lawtell and was a 1966 graduate of Lawtell High School. She then moved to Church Point after marrying her husband, Teddy, of 55 years. Together they had two children, Stacy and Coy. Charlene began her career caring for young children with the Home Start program. After several years with Home Start, Charlene decided to take a leap of faith and began her own nursery school and daycare, Charlene's Playschool Nursery, which she ran for several years helping to nurture and teach many young children. Years later, Charlene took her love of working with children to Church Point Elementary as a paraprofessional and had the pleasure of working with numerous coworkers and administrators over the years. She then joined her husband in retirement after several years of dedicated service to many young children. She was dearly loved by many, especially her family and friends. She loved to entertain friends and family and was known for being a great cook and had many specialty dishes that her family and friends loved for her to prepare. She enjoyed working in her yard and planted beautiful flower beds over the years. Charlene also enjoyed playing Pokeno monthly with her group of friends. Most importantly, she was an active member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served with the Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, and Mary's Call. Her greatest pride came from being a "Nana" to her seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Charlene's memory will be cherished by her family and friends who were blessed to have her in their lives.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish Charlene's memory include her husband, Teddy Leger; her daughter, Stacy Moncla and husband, Lawrence; her son, Richard Coy Leger; daughter-in-law, Ole' Leger; one brother, Glenn (Amanda) Boudreaux; three sisters, Yvonne Noel, Georgia (Keith) Stout, and Susan (Ken Stelly) Miller; seven grandchildren-Noah, Lilliana, Ashley, Haley, Pai, Daniel and Katherine; three great-grandchildren; numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews; as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary (Jagneaux) Boudreaux; and one brother, Gerard Boudreaux. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care of their loved one to Dr. Mike Williams and the entire staff of Acadia-St. Landry Hospital of Church Point and The Road Home Therapy Center, Hope Hospice, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Staff. Special thanks also to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Edmund Catholic School and all the friends and loved ones who prayed, sent flowers and food, or helped in any way during Charlene's illness. The family will be forever grateful and appreciative. Arrangements have been entrusted to Guidry Funeral Home, Inc., 219 North Broadway, Church Point, Louisiana.
