Charles Edward Adams was born December 21, 1941, to Glen and Audrey Mae Adams of Dermott, AR. He passed away peacefully with children by his side January 10, 2024, in Germantown, TN. He leaves behind Wanda, his wife of 62 years, and 3 children and their spouses: Charles Adams (Lauren), Michele Kennedy (Danny), and Tiffany Harris (Keith); 10 grandchildren Harrison Kennedy (Lauren), Morgan de Aguiar (Luis), Mimi Adams, Gracen Warren (Will), Charles Adams III (Sarah), Jackson Kennedy (Bekah), Sadie Adams, and Cooper, Brooks, and Avery Harris; 7 great grandchildren Nora, Reese, Rui, Charley, Betty, Kennedy, and Caroline. He is also survived by 3 siblings and in-laws Kermett Adams (Brenda), Glenda Donaldson (Donnie), Delores Livingston (Mike), Kaye Adams, and Cissy Adams.
Charles graduated at the top of his class in 3 years from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a BA in Ag/Business. He began his professional career with Helena Chemical Co. in 1964 where he moved up the ladder quickly before taking a 12-year period to pursue other business ventures, before returning to Helena Chemical to make lasting impacts in the company over the next 20 years. He also served on several boards over the years, the most recent being Adjuvants Unlimited LLC for 12 years. He truly was a "legend" in the agricultural chemical industry. Beyond his professional achievements, Charles' true passions were rooted in faith and family.
He accepted Christ early in life and preached his first sermon in high school. He was a lay minister serving as an interim pastor on many occasions. He performed or assisted in the weddings of siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his own children and grandchildren. He served as a deacon in several churches, the most recent being Crossroads Baptist, Eads, TN. Charles and his wife Wanda both came from large families and loved hosting family gatherings. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and attended as many of their activities as possible.
Upon his death, Charles was reunited in heaven with his parents and two brothers, Don and Kenneth.
A Celebration of Life (Visitation) will be held on Friday, Jan 26th from 5:00-8:00pm at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN.
The Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, Jan 27th at 1:00pm at Crossroads Baptist, 125 S. Houston Levee Rd, Eads, TN.
