Charles Beckham, age 64 of DeKalb, Texas passed away on June 19, 2025 at his home in DeKalb, Texas
Charles was born April 17, 1961 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Dudley and Sandra Beckham and raised in Red Lick, Texas where he was the oldest of four brothers. He was a graduate of Hooks High School and retired from Texas Department of Corrections, Barry Telford Unit and Clyde M Johnston Unit in New Boston and Winnsboro, Texas. Upon retirement, he continued to work at the Johnston Unit on a reduced basis with plans-in-place to build a home on his property in Queen City, Texas. Charles was a man of faith and a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was known for his quick wit and story-telling humor where he never met a stranger. He was strong and stern when needed with no question where he stood, yet gentle and soft-hearted and willing to help anyone in need. Charles enjoyed deer hunting, deep-sea fishing and long talks with family and friends, but most importantly, being Papa to his new granddaughter, Parley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Sandra Beckham and his grandparents, Oad & Josie Beckham and AG & Melvie Bridges.
He is survived by his two children, Alec Beckham and wife Amber of Germantown, Maryland and Kinzi Sparks and Nick Vrbenec of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Wade and wife Teresa of Gilmer, Texas, Gene and wife Melanie of Queen City, Texas and Craig and wife Staci of Queen City, Texas; seven nephews and nieces and thirty-five cousins and several aunts, uncles and close friends.
Services will be at the Chapelwood Funeral Home in Nash, Texas on Saturday, June 28, 2025 with Brother Troy Phillips officiating. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, services at 12:00 PM and graveside to follow at Red Lick Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
