Charles Stephen Bird, 78, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was born on January 27, 1948 in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late John Charles and Gladys Marie Bird.
Along with his parents Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Bird and niece, Sara Whitney.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, two daughters-Rachel Boston and husband Shayne of Palm Coast, FL, and Becky Zaidman and husband Cesar of Cleveland. Grandchildren-Laura, Olivia, Cleo, Isabella, and Judah Boston. Also survived by one sister, Susie Morse of Melbourne, FL; niece Cari Pulver, and several great- and great- great nieces and nephew also of FL. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
Charlie was a charter member of Shenandoah Baptist Church of Cleveland and still remembered the first church service in the old Holiday Inn Hotel banquet room and the smell of fried chicken cooking in the kitchen during the service. He loved going to church and worshiping his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved to sing and always enjoyed good gospel music. Two of his favorite songs to sing with his wife, Pat, were "He Touched Me" and "Sheltered in the Arms of God." He dearly loved his church family.
Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He could be seen in town wearing his Vietnam Veterans hats. Pallbearers will be Shayne Boston, Cesar Zaidman, Rodney Hannah, Darrell Clark, Dave Armao, and Wes Thompson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles and Pat Bird Scholarship Fund at Shenandoah Baptist Academy at 138 Osment Rd. SE Cleveland, TN 37323 in his memory.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Shenandoah Baptist Church with Pastor David Gamble, and Steve Grubbs officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm prior to the service.
A graveside service is to be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
