Charles Dean Brauer, age 86, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. Peter, Illinois with one hour viewing prior to service. Rev. Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials may go to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Debt fund or the donor's choice.
Charles was born on January 11, 1938 in St. Peter, Illinois, the son of Wilbert and Mildred (Pleitner) Brauer. Charles married Shirley Pries on November 12, 1960 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. Charles entered the Army on September 12, 1961 and served two years at Ft. Eustis, VA. He returned home to farm and work for Rubin's Trucking. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation which he worked for over 30 years. He then continued farming on the family farm. He was the Lone Grove Township Supervisor for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Shirley Brauer of St. Peter; sons Tim (Jan) and Scott (Shannon) Brauer of St. Peter; daughter Lynnette Crain of Farina; grandchildren: Dusti (Justin) Dickerson, Wade (fiancé Maycey) Crain, Will (friend Andrea) Crain, Shelby (friend Zachary), Brauer, Dylen (Alexandria) Brauer, Mitchell and Olivia Brauer, Great grandchildren Cruz and Valynn and special great grand Jensen; sister Jeanette Wodtka and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents Wilbert and Mildred Brauer, brother-in-law Clarence Wodtka and son-in-law Ronnie Crain.
