Charles Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Null & Son Funeral Home on Dec. 30, 2025.
Charles (Charlie) Eugene Brown passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 55.
Born on December 8, 1970, Charlie was the beloved son of Carl Lee and Donna Lou Brown. From an early age, he embodied quiet strength, loyalty, and a steady dedication to the people and pursuits he cared about. These are the traits that defined his life.
Charlie graduated from Rolla Senior High School in 1989 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Columbia College, while working full-time. He began working with the United States Geological Survey in Rolla, Missouri, at just 16 years old as a part-time employee. In 1988, he transitioned to full-time and remained with the USGS until the time of his passing. His professional life was marked by remarkable dedication and longevity.
Outside of his professional life, Charlie found his greatest peace in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a special fondness for mushroom hunting, an activity that reflected his patience, keen eye, and love of nature. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing softball with friends and coworkers, building friendships that lasted through his lifetime.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Lee and Donna Lou Brown; his brother, Louis Carl Brown; and his sister, Jane Lea Brown.
He is survived by his sisters, Carla "Cricket" (Eddie) Farrar and Jerri (Mike) Tanner; his nephews, Ryan (Keira) Farrar, Paul (Emily) Montgomery, Scott (Emily) Montgomery, Stacy (Crystal) Brown; cousins, great nephews and a great niece.
He will also be greatly missed by his USGS family of 38 years, his close-knit group of hunting and fishing buddies, and numerous other friends who felt like family.
Charlie will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering reliability, love of the outdoors, and the quiet way he showed up for those around him. His legacy lives on in the memories shared, the woods he loved, and the family and friends whose lives he touched.
A graveside service for Charles E. Brown will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Anutt Cemetery in Anutt, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to the perpetual care of Anutt Cemetery.
