Anna Mae Crain

Anna Mae Crain, of Rolla, MO, formerly of Jackson, MO, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at the age of 93.

She was born on May 29, 1932 in Chaffee, MO to the late Eugene W. Dumey and Corena J. (Schaefer) Dumey. On July 5, 1955, she married Carlton Crain in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death in 2003.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was also preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Dumey, and a sister, Doris Tucker.

Anna was a proud mother and grandmother whose life was dedicated to her family, friends, and pets. She was born in Chaffee, Missouri and grew up on a farm nestled in the morning shadow of the "Lost Hill", near Rockview, Missouri. Anna was always a determined and spirited individual who never shied away from working long hours to accomplish any task. She exemplified her strong work ethic as a employee at the Jackson Hosiery Mill and later, in the X-ray Department at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Anna was also a true lover of the outdoors. Regardless of the summer heat and humidity, she would diligently work in her flower beds all day and then walk her lovable Yorkies to the city park to cap off the evening. Anna and her late husband, Carlton, also enjoyed making memories with family and friends while camping at Trail's End Ranch near Marquand, MO.

What Anna enjoyed most in life was spending time with family. She took immense pleasure in cooking incredibly large and delicious meals for all in attendance and then being victorious in card games or dominoes which followed.

Anna will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: a daughter, Karla Dodd and husband, Dr. James R. Dodd, of San Antonio, TX; a son, Danny Crain and wife, Vicki, of Rolla, MO; one sister, Loretta Helen Hopkin of Jackson, MO; and three grandchildren, Joseph Crain and wife, Agape, Aaron "Mac" Crain, and Sean Dodd.

A graveside service for Anna M. Crain will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, MO.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
