Charles Caudill, 79, of Wawaka, Indiana, died Friday, August 8, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born June 30, 1946, in Mousie, Kentucky, to Jarvey and Virgie (Hall) Caudill.
On August 21, 1965, in Ligonier he married Carolene Kilburn.
Mr. Caudill was a welder having worked at Levin & Sons and retired from Reliable Tool, both in Kendallville.
He attended True Church of God in Jesus Name in Lisbon.
Charles enjoyed helping people, going to church, fishing, small engine repair, and was an avid inventor and fabricator. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren playing games and watching TV.
Surviving are his wife, Carolene Caudill of Wawaka; a daughter, Hattie Vanette (William) Hamman of Cosperville; six grandchildren, Joshua (Jennie) Hicks, Amanda (Mark) Dill, Emily Hamman, Alyson Hamman, Mathew Hamman, and Eric (Samantha) Zent; 11 great-grandchildren, Chloe Dill, Nicholas Dill, Tobias Dill, Conner Henry Dill, Noah Hicks, Emily Chiddester, Allie Chiddester, Kyle Chiddester, Stone Zent, Ember, Zent, and Ezra Dancy; and a sister-in-law, Doris Lawson of Sturgis, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Henry Caudill, Marcus Caudill, James Caudill, Don Caudill, Benny Caudill, Anne Ritchie, Blanche Short, Piney Hicks, and Myrtle Cox.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Purda Hicks officiating.
Visitation is on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Honorary pallbearer is Tobias Dill. Active pallbearers are Eric Zent, Mark Dill, Nicholas Dill, Joshua Hicks, Noah Hicks, and Mathew Hamman
