Richard G. Conley, 51, of LaGrange, Indiana, courageously lost his battle with ALS on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born June 23, 1974, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Finley and Janice (Combs) Conley.
Prior to his illness, he had been employed at Mastercraft in LaGrange.
Richard left behind a legacy of strength, creativity, and love. A man of many talents, he could build anything he set his mind to and had an extraordinary gift for art. Even after his diagnosis, he continued to design shirts under his own brand "Certified Strohbilly" using only his mouth, a testament to his determination and spirit.
Richard was a devoted fan of IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football, and the New York Yankees, always cheering passionately for his teams. Above all, he loved his family deeply and took great joy in spoiling them with thoughtful gifts. He will be remembered for his resilience, generosity, and the love he shared with those around him.
Surviving are two children he loved as his own and helped to raise, Jade Deetz and Matthew Deetz, both of LaGrange; a sister, Carol (Johnny) Torrez of LaGrange; three brothers, James (Rhonda) Conley of LaGrange, Donald Conley of LaGrange, and Finley (Dee) Conley, Jr. of LaGrange; a stepsister, Margaret (Mike) Blankenship of Wolcottville; two stepbrothers, Ken (Sherry) Ramey of Cree Lake and Rod (Paula) Ramey of LaGrange; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Finley Conley; his mother, Janice Ramey; and his stepfather, James Ramey.
Per Richard's wishes there will be no visitation or services.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
