Charles "Bobby" Robert Clatterbaugh, 89, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at King's Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation in Staunton.
He was born on September 16, 1934, in Staunton, to the late Charles Crafton and Margaret Elizabeth Ellinger Clatterbaugh.
Bobby was a proud member of the U.S. Marines, serving his country with honor and dedication. His military service shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty and patriotism.
Outside of his military career, Bobby had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. As an avid Redskins fan, he cheered for his favorite team during football season. Golfing was another passion of his, spending many enjoyable hours on the golf course perfecting his swing. Charles was also a valued, lifetime member of the Elliott's Knob Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 680 and the Loyal Order of Moose Staunton Lodge 1635.
He retired as a lineman with Virginia Power after a career spanning 35 years.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Carol Michael Clatterbaugh and his daughter-in-law, Leigh Ann Clatterbaugh.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Scott Clatterbaugh and his siblings, Donald Clatterbaugh, Nancy Clatterbaugh McCray, Joan Clatterbaugh Shackelford, and Kay Clatterbaugh Simmons.
The family will receive friends at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A graveside service will be conducted at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Russell Heinrich officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Botkin, Phil Mohler, Ryan McCray, Keith Maclam, Tom Christman, and John Harris.
Buddy Robertson, Pete McCray, Rex Greaver, and Gary Michael will serve as honorary pallbearers.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center (1001 Mount Torrey Road, Lyndhurst, VA 22952) or the Churchville Fire Department (3829 Churchville Avenue, Churchville, VA 24421).
