Charles E. Cloum, age 84, of Bronson, MI, formerly of Monroe, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Fountain View of Monroe.
Chuck was born May 14, 1939 in Monroe, he was the son of Alfred J and Clara E. (Engel) Cloum.
He was a lifetime member of St. Mary Church and attend Monroe Catholic Central High School.
Chuck worked for General Motors at the Willow Run Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1991. During his tenure at GM he was the plant solicitor for United Way and served on the fire brigade.
He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Valerie (Robert) Cartwright; two siblings; Alfred Cloum, Jr. and Gloria (Paul) Bussell; very close friends, Richard (Leslie) Zubkoff and Jamie Jablonski; two grandchildren, Lee Cartwright and Bridgett Washburn and several nieces and nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Barbara Fox, James Cloum, Anthony Cloum and Robert Cloum.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. He will lie instate at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church, 127 N. Monroe St., Monroe with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Rev. David Burgard, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church.
