Charles Corwith Obituary

Charles Frederic Corwith Jr. (Charlie) of Water Mill, NY passed peacefully on October 31, 2025.
He was born on September 18, 1948, in Southampton, to Fred and Bobbie Corwith. He was a lifelong resident of Water Mill and Southampton, graduating from Southampton High School in 1966. He married Dianne Kuettner in 1970, and they raised three sons: Clay, Cliff, and Chris. He later married Susan Davis Marchese in 2007.
He attended Vale Technical Institute from 1967-1968. He then joined the United States Air Force (1968-1972) and was assigned to Shepard AFB, Texas, prior to serving one tour in Vietnam. After returning to the states, he was stationed at Dover AFB in Dover, Delaware and Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah. Charlie left the USAF in 1972 with a rank of Technical Sergeant and joined the NY Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton. He also worked as a mechanic at Hull Chevrolet and Lester Motors before opening Corwith's Auto Body in 1978. After 40 years, Charlie retired and his son Cliff took over the business.
Charlie enjoyed watching NASCAR races and sponsored several racing teams over the years, including the #34 of Don Howe and #56 of Jim Corwith. He was very active in the community and organizations. He sponsored a women's softball team and Little League teams for many years. He was also a member and president of the North Sea Lions Club where he helped organize and run the down hill derby. He was involved in the Water Mill Community Club and the Water Mill Village Improvement Association, where he promoted the annual car show on the green, which benefitted the Corwith Windmill. He was an active long-time member and officer of the Maidstone Gun Club in East Hampton. In 2021, Charlie and Susan moved upstate to Gardiner where he joined local clubs to continue his love of shooting sports.
Charlie was proud to be a veteran and always wore a Vietnam Veteran hat. In April of 2025, Hudson Valley Honor Flight Mission #35 honored Charlie's dedication to serving his country. Hewas able to tour the Washington memorials and was shown appreciation for his service with the most important phrase of "Welcome Home!"
He is survived by his wife Susan, her two children Sara (David) Walton and Nick (Sarah) Marchese; his sons Clay, Cliff (Dawn Webb) and Chris (Jennifer); his siblings Susan, Cindy (Danny McKeever), and Jimmy; along with four grandchildren Jordan, Mallory and Addison Corwith, and Jacob Walton.
Visitation will be at Brockett Funeral Home on November 10th from 5-9pm. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
