Turkey - Charles Davis, age 81, passed away on April 5, 2025 at his home in Turkey surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Church of Christ in Turkey, Texas. Family service arrangements are under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
Charles Davis, 81, of Greenville, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.
Born on February 13, 1944, in Greenville, Texas, Charles was the beloved son of Miss Lorene Davis. As a young man, he moved to Quitaque with his sister, Bobby Gene-a move that would change his life forever when she introduced him to the love of his life, Glorious K. Ivory. The two were inseparable from that day forward, building a beautiful and fruitful life together over the course of 61 years of marriage.
Charles was a man of quiet strength, deep passion, and unwavering commitment to the things he loved. He had a lifelong bond with horses, spending countless hours working with them and sharing that passion with others. He was also a devoted CB radio enthusiast, always ready for a conversation, a new connection, or a late-night signal across the airwaves.
Charles loved and served God with pure devotion. He was a member and Deacon of Mt. Elem Baptist Church, in Greenville, Texas where he faithfully served his church family and community for many years. His relationship with God was the foundation of his life, and serving the Lord was his greatest joy and purpose.
But more than anything, Charles was a family man. He and Glorious raised four sons-Ronnie, Stacy, Tracey, and Bobby Davis-and created a legacy filled with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. His influence lives on in their lives and has transcended into the lives of his 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
While the baby to his siblings, Alford Poke, James Myers Jr, Bobbie Gean Ivory, Willie Faye Willis, Doris Landers, Jewel Meyers, Abe Davis, James Davis, and Para Strong, Charles was a servant leader willing to go beyond limits to be present for each of them.
To his granddaughters, Charles was more than a grandfather-he was a father figure, a protector, and a teacher. He poured his entire heart into each of them, guiding them with patience, wisdom, and unconditional love. His presence was steady and strong, and his legacy will live on through every life he touched.
Charles is survived by his beautiful wife, Glorious Davis; his sons Ronnie (Karen), Stacy (Tiffani), Tracey (Tammy), and Bobby Davis; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of additional loved ones who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Miss Lorene Davis and all of his siblings.
