Charles J. Dehney, 95, of Dracut, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday September 14,2025. Born on August 14, 1930, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Caram) Dehney.

Charles was a proud graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1949. Shortly after, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Following his service, he returned home and married the love of his life, Dolly (Queenan) Dehney. Together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a family rooted in love, faith, and community.

He served the City of Lowell as a police officer and later earned an engineering degree from Lowell Technological Institute. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Charles, always placed family at the center of his life.

An active and dedicated member of the Dracut community, Charles served as president of the PTO, as Dracut Town Selectman for nine years while serving as chairman on the board, as a minor league baseball coach, and as director of Dracut Pop Warner for more than 40 years. He was also a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His leadership, commitment, and generosity touched countless lives.

Charles enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, Sunday trips to the casino, sharing lunches with family daily, and engaging in spirited political debates.

He is survived by his five sons: Charles Dehney and Karen Kirby, Michael Dehney and Kathy Murphy, Joseph Dehney and Kathy Sorensen, Stephen Dehney and Stephanie Powers, and Thomas Dehney and his wife Christine. He also leaves behind grandchildren-Meghan, Matt, Stefani, Courtney, Shaylagh, Matthew, Joey, Jennifer, Aaron, Jaclyn, Ashley, Thomas, Jenny, and Jaime-and his great-grandchildren Riley, Charlie, Danny, Sage, Evander, Nicolas, Thomas, Victoria, Greyson, Dante, Austin, Hailey, Dylan and Angelina.

He was predeceased by his only brother George Dehney.

Charles's life was a testament to service, family, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
