Charles F. Emerson III, a resident of Lake Carmel, NY for over 50 years, passed away on March 4, 2025 in his home with his family by his side. He was born in Yonkers, NY on November 25, 1946, the son of Charles F. Emerson Jr. and Ann Spakowski Emerson.
Charlie graduated from Saunders Trade and Technical High School in Yonkers and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. In 1970, after returning from his time in the service, Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Jean (Avezzano). For many years, Charlie used his technical training as an electrician to run his own appliance repair business. He went on to work for the Brewster Central School District as a school bus driver and driver trainer retiring in 2012. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Carolyn Emerson, Melissa Pitre (David), Charles Emerson (Beth), Danielle Sandberg (Josh) and Joshua Emerson; his sisters, Suzanne Bogosian (Paul) and Karen Aynes; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean on April 29, 2015 after 44 years of marriage.
Charlie's life was filled with love. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his good nature.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 10 from 3-7 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. Private cremation will follow.
