Charles D. Erickson was born March 7, 1931 to Jasper and Charlotte (Ose) Erickson in Story City, Iowa. He was confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland and graduated from Roland High School. Chuck served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a building instructor to the POW’s. He married Lola M. Jones on June 12, 1955. He worked construction all his life. Chuck was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, the Roland American Legion Post #307, the Iowa Wildlife Federation, charter member of the Story City Kiwanis and Sons of Norway, and as a leader in the Boy Scouts. Chuck passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at 80 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Lola; his five children: Peggy (Kevin) Patterson, Colleen (Scott) Mathis, Nancy LaVenture, Suzanne Erickson, and Duane Erickson; sixteen grandchildren: Timothy (Abby) Patterson, Jason Patterson, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Anderson, Bryon (Mallory) Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Brylee Anderson, Keaton Mathis, Britz Mathis, Jonathan (Emily) LaVenture, Matthew (Amanda) LaVenture, Andrew (Lauren) LaVenture, Christopher Erickson, Levi Erickson, Hunter Erickson, Shyann Erickson, and Kassidy Erickson; and six great-grandchildren: Kara Patterson, Ella Presley, Jaylee Anderson, Austin Anderson, Andrew Pent, and Leah Pent, with four great-grandchildren expected this summer. Also surviving are two aunts; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in- law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Donald; a sister-in-law, and a brother-in-law.
