Charles "Charlie" W. Finch of Del City died on April 8th 2025. He was born on January 9, 1947 to Jimmie Finch and Theola Finch of Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; His son Eric and his wife Tiffany of Sunnyvale Texas; His son Alan and his wife Kristy of Edmond Oklahoma and their two cherished sons, Jack and Charlie; His brother James Finch and his wife Cheryl of Edmond; Niece Alissa Fleming, husband Will and their sons Henry and Jameson; His nephew Tyler Finch, his wife Bethany, and their daughter Sloane and son Harvey.
Charlie grew up in various cities and spent his high school years at Lakenheath Air Force base in England where he graduated. At age 20 he enlisted into the US Navy. He was part of the commissioning crew of the USS San Diego where he served 4 years. He met his wife Nancy during that time and they married in August of 1972. They made their home in Del City Oklahoma. He started his career as an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base where served 31 years. Because of his fathers untimely death in 1973, he chose to help raise his 14 year old brother in addition to starting his own family. In addition to his career at Tinker, he took on several civilian jobs including starting his own lawn care business which he ran for 37 years.
Taking these extra jobs allowed him to fund his passion for cars and motorcycles. In the late 70's he restored a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air which he took to various local car shows. After restoring several cars, he started working on motorcycles which piqued his interest in drag racing. He began racing motorcycles from 1986 until he quit in 1997. However, his passion for racing caused him to start racing again in 2010 up until 2017 when he was 70.
Charlie was a selfless man, always putting others' needs before his own. He loved his family very much, tried to be the best husband, father, grandfather and friend he could be. His biggest joy in his later years was time spent with his grandchildren. His passing will leave an irreplaceable hole in our hearts, but we know we will see him again in heaven.
