Charles G. Floeter, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away peacefully at his home in
Oxford, Michigan on August 24, 2023. Born on October 25, 1927, in
Detroit, Michigan, Chuck lived a full and vibrant life, characterized by his love for gardening, traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with his friends and family.
Chuck was the loving son of the late Fred and Irene Floeter. He was the cherished brother of Fred, Patricia, and Avila Floeter, all of whom preceded him in death. Chuck was also the devoted husband of the late Doreen Floeter, whose memories he held close to his heart until the end.
Chuck is survived by his sons, Kurt and Kim Floeter, who will remember their father as a pillar of strength and love. His legacy will continue to live on through Scott Floeter, Jeanne Vandecar, Vandecar family, including his four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Chuck's love for animals was evident in his companionship with his 22-year-old cat, Flash, eight-year-old dog, Sadie, four-year-old dog, Natalie, and six-year-old cat, Roadkill. His home was always filled with the warmth and joy that these pets brought.
Chuck served in the Navy Hospital Core with honor and dedication, a testament to his unwavering commitment to service. After his military service, he became the owner and operator of the Brummett Agency, from which he retired in 1992. His work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew him.
Aside from his professional accomplishments, Chuck was also deeply involved in his community. He was a master gardener and contributed significantly to the Oakland University Green House. His love for gardening was not just a hobby, but a passion that he shared with others. Chuck was also an active member of the Big Brothers Association, where he mentored and guided many young individuals.
Chuck was a man of many interests, and he lived his life to the fullest. He had a love for traveling, exploring new cultures, and meeting new people. He was an excellent cook and baker, often delighting his family and friends with his culinary creations. Above all, Chuck cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. His home was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of his delicious home-cooked meals.
Those who knew Chuck will remember him as a loving individual. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. He had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
