Charles Alfred Garza graduated to be with our Lord and Savior on January 23, 2021.
Well-known as Chaz, he passed due to pneumonia and other complications while at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was 71 years young.
Chaz was born in San Antonio to parents Gilbert Garza and Flora Riojas Morales (deceased).
Chaz was married to the beautiful Kathy Garza for over 50 years.
Together, they have two children, Angela and David, five grandchildren, Chelsey, Karolina, Lauren, Charles Jr., and Christina, plus two great-grandchildren, Brendyn and Gabriel.
Chaz served over 11 years in the United States Air Force as a decorated Intelligence Operations Technician. He continued serving his country as a very successful civil servant for the Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin doing what he loved - a professional photographer/videographer. Chaz was so talented, high-ranking military officers often sought his services.
Chaz developed many friends over the years. He often told great stories of his childhood buddies, military teammates, and close neighbors. He was especially thankful for the relationships he developed while residing at his assisted living facility.
Most of all, Chaz was a loving husband, a proud father, a doting grandfather, and an amazing great-grandfather. He constantly bragged to everyone about his family and loved spending quality time with them.
As a believer and a born-again Christian, Chaz was kind, loving, honest, sincere, and always wanted to help. He was the kind of man who sacrificed for others - he would give the shirt off his back.
Even during his last days, Chaz was a very happy man. He frequently told hilarious jokes, maintained a positive outlook, and brought blessings to everyone around him.
Chaz will be dearly missed. We take comfort in knowing that he is in Heaven with the rest of God's children and his Jack Russell Terrier, Bob.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston. Date and time to be posted here.
Following the service, Chaz's daughter, Angela and her husband, Vince, will be hosting a life celebration at a local restaurant.
For memorial service details please contact Angela Handler at 214-843-7355 no later than February 26, 2021. Thank you.
