Charles Glick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Wilton Mortuary on Sep. 22, 2025.
Charles "Chuck" W. Glick, 90, of Peoria, was called to his eternal home on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025. He resided at Buehler Home. Born Oct. 30, 1934, in Havana, IL to Walter G. and Edna K. (Osing) Glick, Chuck lived a life defined by faith, family, and love.

Chuck's heart was always centered on love. On June 23, 1956, he married his beloved wife, Marlene I. Huning, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO. Their marriage was a story of devotion and tenderness. Chuck was known for romantic gestures – scattering rose petals across rooms on Valentine's Day, writing heartfelt notes, even building her the charming playhouse she had dreamed of since childhood. They raised two children together. Marlene preceded him in death.

In 2012, Chuck found love again when he married Lois Zeigler in Peoria, IL. True to his romantic spirit, he proposed to Lois at a covered bridge, a symbol of his passion for bridges and craftsmanship, and a reminder of how he turned ordinary places into extraordinary moments. His beloved wife, Lois, affectionately called "Loie", survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Amy (Reza) Naqvi of Bay Shore, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Chantel (Jesse) Kuczmarski, Bryan Glick, Sarah Naqvi, Abbas Naqvi, and Laila Naqvi; one great-grandchild, Jacob Kuczmarski; and his dear sister, Beverly "Bev" (Ralph) VanDixhorn of Minneapolis, MN and two nieces. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Timothy "Tim" Glick of Richmond, VA.

Chuck gained additional family when he married Lois. He is also survived by Keith (Judy) Zeigler, Jeff (Laurie) Zeigler, Todd Zeigler, and family friend Donna Schwab; seven grandchildren and their spouses; eleven great-grandchildren; and one granddaughter who preceded him in death.

Chuck graduated from Havana High School in 1952 and from Valparaiso University in 1956 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis before earning his master's degree in engineering at Bradley University. He worked as a civil engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for 35 years. After retirement, he continued with Maurer-Stutz, Inc. and other consulting firms for another 15 years.

Beyond his career, Chuck delighted in sharing the history of covered bridges, building and restoring, cheering on the Bradley Braves and St. Louis Cardinals, collecting antiques and postcards, serving his church, and gathering for meals with family. He was known for his signature biscuits and gravy.

Those who knew him will remember his positive spirit, deep-rooted faith, and gift for uplifting others. He helped restore the historic Allaman Bridge in Henderson County, IL, a symbol of how he built bridges not only of wood, concrete, and steel but also of compassion, kindness, and connection – bridges that will stand for generations.

Chuck was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, IL.

Visitation will take place from 9 to 9: 50 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 325 E Queenwood Rd in Morton, IL. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Private family burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Food Ministry. The family extends gratitude to the Buehler Home staff for their compassionate care.

As 1 Corinthians 16:14 teaches, "Let all that you do be done in love." Through his devotion, generosity, and care, Chuck's life reflected the love of his Heavenly Father – faithfully providing, protecting, and teaching his family the true meaning of love.
