Charles P. Gnassi, MD ObituaryCharles P. Gnassi, MD 94, of Loch Arbour, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was born in 1931 in Newark and lived in Jersey City, Avon by the Sea, Syracuse, Brooklyn, East Brunswick and Loch Arbour.
Dr. Gnassi was a graduate of The Hun School in Princeton, Brown University and the University of Vermont Medical School. Charles completed his residency at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He served as a captain in the US Army Reserves. He was physician who practiced psychiatry for the State of New Jersey. He also had private practices first in Brooklyn and then in East Brunswick.
He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch. He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo Mario and Louise Helb Gnassi.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Emmons Gnassi; children, John Angelo Gnassi, MD and wife Deborah Sutliff, Anne Gnassi Bauman, MD and husband Syd Bauman, Teresa Gnassi Cuesta and husband Frederic Cuesta; grandchildren, Alexander Charles Gnassi, Karin Citroen, Isabelle Bauman Pinsky and wife Emma Pinsky, David Norman Bauman, Andrew Cuesta and Elena J. Cuesta; siblings, Adrienne Gnassi and Diane Bradford and his beloved companion, Piper the miniature dalmation.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-6 pm at the Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Saturday at St. Michael's Churchin West End, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Mercy Ships, Coventry House or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
