Charles H. Haudenshield, 82, of McMurray, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 29, 2020 with his beloved wife Mary Louise Haudenshield at his side. He is survived by, and was the loving father of, Nancy Haudenshield-Kelly and husband Gregory of Mt. Lebanon, PA, and John Haudenshield and wife Heather of Sykesville, MD. Charles was the proud grandfather of Liam Kelly, Jillian Haudenshield, Ava Kelly, and Jacob Haudenshield and the loving brother of James C. Haudenshield. He is also survived by a host of cousins, extended family, cherished friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Christian L. and Laura I.A. Haudenshield.
Charles was born March 30,1938, grew up on his family's farm on Thomas Road in McMurray, attended Peters Township High School and retired from Mayview State Hospital after 36 years as Head Mechanic. He was a lifelong member of Center Presbyterian Church, a Master Mason in Chartiers Lodge #297 F. & A.M. of PA, and a retired volunteer firefighter with the Peters Township Fire Department where he was instrumental in establishing and building PTFD Station #2. Additionally, Charles was an active member of the VFW Post 764 and the Canonsburg Sportsman's Club. Charles had many hobbies and enjoyed spending time gardening, working on clocks & time pieces, building engines for dirt track race cars, fishing, hunting, and coin collecting. Having an intense and keen mechanical interest since childhood, Charles could fix nearly anything. Always willing to lend a hand, he even just recently helped a friend fix their car by talking them through it over the phone. Charles was full of curiosity and loved to help others and share his knowledge and experience. He was a warm, loving, generous man and will be missed dearly.
Viewing will be held on 12/17/2020 at Beinhauer Funeral Home 2828 Washington Rd McMurray from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chuck's grandchildren's college education: Checks can be made out to ""College America"" and mailed to MaryLou Haudenshield at P.O. Chuck was a good friend of mine for many years. You could ask him for advice on anything from gardening to cars. He was always an integral part of our group, from our many fabulous trips and weekends. He will greatly be missed. But will always be in our hearts.
