Charles Henry Hefley, 82, of Denison, Texas, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025 at his home. He was born on September 15, 1942, in Sherman, Texas, to Betty Minney and John Hefley, who preceded him in death.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967, a time in his life that shaped his deep sense of duty and patriotism. After his service, he returned to North Texas and settled in Denison, where he built a life rooted in faith and family.
He is survived by his two beloved children, Michelle Blasingame and her husband Stuart, and Kevin Hefley and his wife Marcela. He was a devoted and doting grandfather to Connor Blasingame, Seth Blasingame, and Kevin Luis Hefley, they were his greatest pride and joy. Known affectionately as "PawPaw," Charles almost never missed a school event, game, or performance. His love for his grandkids was unmatched, and his presence at their events will never be forgotten
Charles is also survived by his loving sisters, Mary Walker and her husband Norman, and Nancy Turney, wife of the late David Turney, along with many nieces and nephews who will remember his steady presence, his humor, and his contagious smile.
A longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, Charles found deep purpose and joy in his faith and his church family. Tuesday mornings were for fellowship with his church friends at Chick-fil-A. Sundays were sacred, not just for church, but also for catching the NASCAR race afterward. He knew every "Gunsmoke" episode by heart (probably better than Ms. Kitty or Marshal Dillon themselves), and he enjoyed football games as a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, always hopeful for that next great season.
Charles will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his quiet strength, and the deep, unwavering love he gave to those around him, especially his kids and grandkids. He lived a life of faith, service, and devotion, and leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Southside Baptist Church, in Denison, TX, with Rev. Keith Taylor, officiating. Burial will follow at Vittitoe Cemetery, in Whitewright, TX. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025 at Fisher Funeral Home.
