Charles Morton Hoyt, age 91, of Medina Ohio passed away peacefully on June 29 with his family by his side. He was born on August 17, 1933, in Bainbridge, New York to the late Lester E. and Irene M. Hoyt. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Charles served as a machine repairman throughout his life. As a man of many talents, he also worked as a United States Postal Mail Carrier for the City of Medina, walking 14 miles every day. He was also an Auto Mechanic and helped work his wife's parents' farm.
Charles is survived by his son, Gary (Jennifer); daughters, Diane (Jim) Gamauf; and Sharon (Kevin) Nehrenz; grandchildren, Kristen (Rich) Carpino; Michael (Kelly) Gamauf; Kaylee (Mackenzie) Nehrenz; Bret (Kori) Nehrenz; Crystal (Eric) Cassady; Elise (Pete) Buchholz; great grandchildren, Lena and Ross Charles Carpino; Zoey, Charleston, and Jonah Gamauf; Tristan Nehrenz; Beau Nehrenz; Eva and Ruby Buchholz; and Adelyn and Caleb Cassady; brother, Paul (Linda) Hoyt; along with many nieces and nephews, who he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his three brothers, John, Bob, and Dan. His loving wife, Bev, whom he was married to for 65 years, predeceased him in 2021.
A special thank you goes out to dad's friend and neighbor, Ted Patrick, as well as the many close friends and neighbors that have always been there for Mom and Dad throughout the years. We would also like to express our sincerest thanks to our Hospice friends, Dawn and Ashley, as well as the entire Cleveland Clinic Hospice staff, for the kindness and care shown during Dad's final journey.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family requests that you honor Dad's memory by sharing a meal with your loved ones. Gather your family and friends, offer them a hug, tell them you love them, and remind them to be kind and help others. This would mean the most to him, as he cherished family and believed in the power of kindness.
A private memorial service will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
