Charles W. Karayianis
Beloved father, brother, cousin and friend;
Charles W. "Chuck" Karayianis, 72, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away at his home on Thursday December 12, 2024.
Born in Lewiston, Maine on June 23, 1952, the son of the late William and the late Amalea (Linardos) Karayianis, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1970. He went on to attend Antioch College.
Before his retirement, Chuck spent many years as an addictions counselor and he touched many lives during that time and after. He was very proud of his 30+ years of sobriety.
Active with his church, the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, Chuck was a former choir director and church board member. His faith was important to him, and it showed in the way he cared for others.
Among his many interests, Chuck enjoyed cooking delicious Greek foods, singing with his beautiful bass voice, and spending time with his friends and family. He was always the first to get up and start the Greek dancing, and he made everyone feel welcome to join him. He had an infectious smile and laugh, a kind and genuine soul, and his greatest joy came from serving others.
Charles is survived by his daughter Amelia B. Karayianis of Somerville, MA; his sister Sharon Karayianis of Hawaii; and several cousins and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday December 20, 2024, at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 25 Fr. John Sarantos Way in Lowell at 10 o'clock.
