Charles “Chuck” Joseph Lamb, Jr.
Chuck, 86, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, OH, due to complications from congestive heart failure.
Born on December 22, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN, to Bertha and Charles Lamb, Sr., Chuck was raised in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota, studying Business. He joined the U.S. Army in 1957 and was stationed at Camp Belvoir, VA, where he met his future wife, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Barber.
In Chuck’s words, “Scouting has been my life’s ministry.” He held various professional roles with the Boy Scouts of America over a 35-year career, including Director of Field Services in Northern VA and Central OH. Chuck found this work incredibly rewarding and inspiring. He also volunteered in several roles, including Chairman of the Catholic Committee on Scouting and Scout Master to many troops over the years.
Chuck’s “rock” was his wife, Ginny, with whom he was married for 64 years. They had four children: Teresa, Mark, Beth, and Mike. Chuck’s work with the Scouts led to numerous family adventures, including living in Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan, Virginia, and Ohio. Many family vacations were spent at Scout camps, with all of the expected activities. Chuck was in his element when scouting, enjoying carrying on that tradition with his sons and grandsons.
Chuck is survived by his loving spouse, Ginny, of Westerville, and their children: Teresa Soller (Dave) of Westerville, Mark Lamb of Virginia Beach, Beth Lamb (Sydney) of Westerville, and Mike Lamb (Carol) of Westerville. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Eric Soller (Nicole) of Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany, Brad Soller of Westerville, Stephanie Soller of Westerville, Sutton Lamb of Virginia Beach, Julia Lamb of Virginia Beach, Jacob Lamb of Westerville, and Evan Lamb of Westerville, as well as his niece, Rainya Taylor (Ed) of Billings, MT.
A private service will be held for the family.
The family requests that donations be made to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Heart and Vascular Center in his memory.
Chuck is preceded in death by his Mother: Bertha “Mary” Lamb of Northfield, MN; Father: Charles “Charlie” Lamb, Sr. of Minneapolis, MN; Sister: Patricia “Pat” Lamb (Eleanor “Ele” Hansen) of Northfield; Brother: Richard “Rick” Lamb of Minneapolis; Grandson: Andrew “Drew” Soller of Westerville, OH.
