It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jason Lee Schmeitzel who departed this life unexpectedly on September 18th at the age of 51. Jason is proceeded in death by his parents Jack and Julie Schmeitzel. Jason is survived by his pride and joy, his sons, Landon and Nathan. Also survived by sisters Jackie (Paul). Cheryl (Michael), Lori, Eva, and Laura, brother John (Denise), so many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his favorite boy Thanos, and his ex-wife Erin.
Jason was always the life of the party. He either left you laughing or truly pissed you off, especially if he met you at a Michigan/Ohio State game. Jason was born and lived in Columbus, Ohio, graduated from Westerville North High School in 1992 where he made so many friends and met the love of his life. Jason loved hunting, fishing, wood carving and could fix just about anything. Jason was active in his son's lives, being a coach to them and so many young men whether it was football or baseball, Coach Jason loved those boys. His chair is empty now, but his spirit will remain with us forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you puff, puff, pass in Jason's honor and share a story about a time with him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
