Charles Edward Lane was born October 22, 1943, in Garden City, KS to Robert Page and Lottie Mae (Vannaman) Lane. He passed away May 24, 2024, in Salina, KS. He attended schools in Garden City, KS and Scott City, KS. After graduating high school, he played football for the junior college at Garden City Community College. Charles then joined the air force where he met Peggy Baker whom he married. While in Garden he worked for the City Electric Co. and Dave Crab Electric. He also trimmed Trees with Butch Knight for years as a sideline. He moved to Ponca City, OK in his later years to fish, hunt, and tend cattle. His last couple of years he lived in Salina, KS to be close to family.
Charles is survived by 1 daughter Tina (Rick) Leister; a Granddaughter Aubrey Knox; and a great grandson Ezra Helvey. He is also survived by a sister Linda (Tim) Parker; Nephew Christopher (Sabrina) Lane; great niece Emma Mae Lane all from Salina, KS; 2 Step daughters Sheryl McRee and Pam (Mike) Anderson; 6 Step grandchildren; and 15 great step grandchildren.
Charles is proceeded in death by his parents; grandparents Ray & Evilo Vannaman; several uncles and aunts; and 1 step grandson Victor Cabrera.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Steve Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
