Charles Lawson Obituary

Charles Lawson, 76, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 9, 2025, at his daughter's home, surrounded by those he cherished.
Charles lived for the open road, whether roaring down the highway on his beloved Harley-Davidson Trike or tearing through mountain trails on his four-wheeler. Fondly known as "Parachute" by his motorcycle family, he was frequently seen riding with his daughter Michelle on the back and his son Matt leading the pack. His granddaughter Paige and her husband Deven were blessed to also share his love of motorcycles and riding with him. He treasured his trips with Matt and Michelle, camping in Maggie Valley for the Thunder in the Smokies bike rally and forging lifelong friendships at every stop.
He delighted in the simple pleasures of life: riding his four-wheeler through the mountains he called home, Sunday dinners, and lazy afternoons relaxing at the creek.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Charles served courageously in Vietnam. He wore his Army and Vietnam Veteran pride boldly and supported fellow veterans whenever he could.
Charles treasured his family above all. He beamed with pride when Michelle and Matt called him "Dad" and delighted in nicknaming them the "M&M kids." He enjoyed family gatherings, filled with laughter and sharing stories of his mischievous Merrimac adventures.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Lawson; son, Matt Lawson; grandchildren, Austin (Cheyenne) and Paige (Deven); great-granddaughter, Adrianna; sister, Joyce Slusser; brother, Tim Lawson (Angie); and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dalana Lane, whom Charles lovingly called "The Warden." In addition to sharing countless motorcycle rides with him, she tirelessly guided his healthcare decisions, adding both precious days and meaningful quality to his life. They also extend sincere thanks to Medi Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate and dedicated care during his final days.
In every rev of an engine and every story shared, Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fearless living. Ride on, Parachute.
Services will be held at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, VA, on Monday, November 17, 2025, with visitation from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow immediately at Roselawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to McCoy Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
