It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather & friend, Charles "Chuck" Leonard on November 15, 2024, from cancer in Naperville, Illinois.
Chuck was born in Galveston, Texas, the second of five children of Carl and Nancy Leonard. A gifted young athlete with a height advantage over all his peers, he graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in architecture.
Chuck's architectural designs can be found across the U.S., from a historic hotel in San Antonio, Texas, a shopping mall in Boston, Massachusetts, food manufacturing clean rooms in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, large retail stores in Detroit, Michigan, a wedding pavilion in Naperville, Illinois to private residences in Smithville, Texas.
Chuck spent his retirement years at his home in Desiderata just outside of Smithville, Texas. For years, he worked diligently on building and expanding his own house, a labor of love.
Chuck loved his home state of Texas, his friends, and most of all his family. Chuck is survived by his daughter Melanie, son Lucas, stepdaughters Katya and Maria, grandchildren Jeremy, Sara, Kira & Leo, and ex-wives Clara and Natalia.
Chuck's final wish was for his life to be celebrated with music and Texas BBQ. We promise to make that wish a reality in the days ahead.
In our hearts we know that Chuck is at long last reunited with his beloved brother Tommy, playing a game of basketball with his best friend Ricky, and smiling down on us all.
