It is with heavy hearts that we announce Mr. Charles Raymond Long, a beloved resident of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 83.


Mr. Long was born in Douglasville on December 8, 1941 to the late Charles William Long and Audrey Annie May Reynolds Long. Charles was a cherished member of the Douglasville community, known for his kindness, humor, and dedication to his family and friends.


He leaves behind his daughter, Michelle Sherri Davis, and his grandchildren, Avery Justin Brooks and his wife Rachel, Michalyn Guadiana and her husband Omar, and Gracie Davis, his brother, Roy Long, and his dear sister, Ann Fullbright. His life was also graced by his furry grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.


Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved spouse, Marie Anne Long, and his siblings, Robert Long, Donald Richard Long Sr., and Phyllis Long, Charles is now reunited with them in peace.


His professional dedication in life was rooted by his commitment in serving his country as a proud member of the Navy, being honorable discharged after his term of service. Charles went on to dedicate 48 years of his life as a Premachine Specialist with MeadWestvaco, where he was a respected member of the Local 527-S Graphics Communication Union.


Charles was a man of many passions. He delighted in the simple joys of bird-feeding, outdoor work, hunting and fishing. Known for having a cup of coffee in hand at any hour of the day, he was a steadfast advocate for human rights, whether in education or the workforce.


Memorial graveside services for Mr. Long will be held at 11:00am Friday, July 25, 2025 at Sunrise Gardens of Memories with the U.S. Navy presenting military honors. 


His presence will be greatly missed, but his legacy of love, compassion, and community service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
