Charles William Masters

Charles William Masters, known to friends and family as Charlie, passed away peacefully in his home on May 8, 2025, at the age of 77, after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend,
whose life was a testament to his faith, love for family, and dedication to serving others.
Charlie was born on June 22, 1947, to Frank and Virginia Masters at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. As the eldest of four children, he often spoke fondly of his childhood- days filled with hunting, fishing, and the warmth of being surrounded by
family. He especially cherished trips to his grandparents' farm in South Carolina- these early experiences helped shape his deep appreciation for both the outdoors and family bonds. After graduating from Baylor University in 1969, Charlie went on to work at Owens Corning Fiberglass and later at Cardinal Scale in Joplin, Missouri as the Chief Financial Officer, where he dedicated himself to his career until his retirement in 2012.
Before meeting the love of his life, Joyce Marshall, in 2007, Charlie had four children from previous marriages: Jamey, Melanie, Lindsay, and Michael. Joyce and Charlie married in 2008, and his family expanded with the addition of Joyce's children, Michele and Allen.
In their retirement years, Charlie and Joyce found great joy in traveling together, cherishing the opportunity to see more of the world and spend meaningful time side by side. Their adventures were filled with laughter, love, and gratitude for the life they
shared. They also treasured the time spent with their grandchildren, traveling near and far to cheer them on in their many activities and celebrate their accomplishments. Charlie was an avid golfer who found peace and contentment on the course. Whether watching his grandkids, traveling, or teeing off with friends and family, he lived each day with gratitude and a deep appreciation for life's simple and meaningful moments.
Charlie's life was defined by his unwavering faith in God. A dedicated member of his church, he found joy in fellowship and purpose in service. He actively participated in Bible study, church events, and community outreach. His involvement in his Walk to Emmaus group and his role as a mentor in his church made him a cornerstone of his faith community. Whether teaching Sunday School, volunteering, or simply offering a kind word, Charlie's faith shaped every aspect of his life.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Marshall Masters; his children and their spouses: Jamey & Angie Masters, Melanie & Doug Burzynski, Lindsay Masters, Michael & Whitney Masters, Michele & Shane Willis, and Allen Marshall; his grandchildren: Hannah, Bobby, Griffith, Avalon, Harvey, Edison, Brandon, Zachary, Allie, and Jase; his brothers, John & Kathy Masters and James & Pam Masters; his sister, Mary Katherine & Ken Moriarty; and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Virginia Masters.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Boerne, 205 James St., Boerne, TX, on Sunday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice or Heart of Texas Hospice-LS; Attn: Charlotte Thomas AP, 18568 Forty Six Pkwy, Ste 2001, Spring Branch, TX 78070. Charlie's legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
