Charles "Charlie" Morris, age 78, of
Windsor, CT, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital. Charles was born on October 22, 1947, in
Palatka, Florida, to the late James Harrison and the late Lannie Beth Morris. He graduated from Central Academy High School in 1964 and later proudly attended his 50th Class Reunion, cherishing lifelong friendships and memories. In 1967, Charles was drafted into the United States Army and honorably served in the Infantry with the 101st Airborne Division. He completed three tours of duty during the Vietnam War and received numerous commendations for his service, including the Bronze Star, reflecting his bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to duty. Following his military service, Charles dedicated himself to public service and community protection. In 1972, he joined the Hartford Police Department, where he served with distinction for nearly two decades. During his tenure, he earned recognition and awards for acts of heroism and valor. He rose through the ranks as Detective and Sergeant and retired in 1991 with the rank of Lieutenant. Charles continued his commitment to service by serving an additional 20 years as the Director of Campus Safety at Trinity College in Hartford, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. A man of deep faith and devotion to the church, Charles served for several decades as Chairman of the Deacons Board at the Sanctuary of Faith and Glory Church, formerly known as Blue Hills Community Baptist Church. Deacon Morris was known for his compassion and tireless ministry to the sick and shut-in. He faithfully led the Building Fund Campaign and established the Deacon Charles Morris Food Pantry, leaving a lasting legacy of service and stewardship. He will also be fondly remembered for the BBQ ribs he lovingly prepared for the church's annual Vacation Bible School outings. Charles was a man of warmth and joy, known for his infectious sense of humor, love of photography, and his passion for capturing and preserving memories. He found great pleasure in fishing, cooking, and sharing life with family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Betty Morris; his daughter, Antoinnetta Renea (Kevin) Spates of Zion, Illinois; granddaughters Chalsea Virlisha (Colin, Jr.) Larmond of New Jersey, and Yvonne Danielle Spates of Zion, Illinois; and great-grandchildren Colin III, Marley, and Taylor Larmond. He is also survived by nieces Ashleigh Wallace and Olivia Wallace, special great-niece Ava Wallace, and a host of loving relatives, church family, and dear friends. Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents Ernest and Lucille Burnham; his brother Andrew Morris; his daughter Yvette Faye Dudley; and his sons Donald Jones and Derrick Dudley.
