Charles "Robert" Mudd III, age 60, of Springfield, formerly of Lebanon, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his residence after a long battle with ALS surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 24, 1965 to the late Charles Robert Mudd II and Mary Pauline Thompson Mudd. Robert was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending summers at the lake. His greatest passions were growing tomatoes and singing. He loved the UK Wildcats and enjoyed watching all UK basketball games.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Charles Allen Perkins; brother-in-law, Dr. Sean Looney.

Survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Kelly Essex Mudd of Springfield; sisters, Joann (Keith) Hutchins of Georgetown, Rose Mudd Perkins of Richmond, Helen Mudd of Creve Coeur, ILL, Julie Mudd of New Orleans; mother and father-in-law, Billy and Lois Essex of Springfield; sister-in-law, Kathy (Jonathan) Watson of Hodgenville; brother-in-law, David (Darlene) Essex of Springfield; faithful companion, Honeybee.

Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved tremendously.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at St. Charles Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery with full military honors conducted by The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Bosley Funeral Home with a prayer service that will be held at 6:00 P.M.; officiated by Deacon Joe Dant.
