Charles Kenneth “Kenny” Phillips, age 86, of Warner Robins, passed away on December 30, 2024. Born on July 20, 1938, in Ambrose, Georgia, to the late Harold and Ditha Grantham Phillips, Kenny lived a full and meaningful life, dedicating his time to family, service, and his passions.
Kenny was a proud U.S. Army veteran, who went on to work at Robins Air Force Base as a civilian for 28 years, contributing his skills and expertise. A lifelong lover of sports, he spent 27 years coaching college softball, leaving an indelible mark on the teams he mentored and the players he inspired.
In 1960, Kenny married the love of his life, Barbara Anne Hamby Phillips, and together they enjoyed 64 years of devotion, love, and mutual respect. They were members of Second Baptist Church, where Kenny found community and a foundation for his faith.
In his younger years, Kenny was an avid golfer and volunteered with the Georgia State Golf Association for 25 years, making lasting friendships and contributing to the game he loved. He was also known for his love of reading, solving puzzles, and always keeping himself busy with projects. Above all, he treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. Kenny had a special fondness for babies and delighted in spending time with the youngest members of his family.
Kenny is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; children, Casey Phillips (Tiffany) and Melanie Paige Phillips; grandchildren, Eleni Chittenden (Matt), Mckenzie Baker, Emma Baker, and Wyatt Baker; and great-grandchildren, Callie Chittenden, Ivey Chittenden, and Montana Chittenden.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Afterward, Charles will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
