Obituary of Charles "Ricky" Richard Richter
Charles "Rick" "Ricky" Richard Richter, 78, of Ladson, SC passed away on Sunday January 15th, 2023 at 8:30pm.
Rick was born November 20, 1944 to Rexford Leroy and Louise (Baumgart) Richter in Charleston, SC. Rick grew up living on John's Island and was a country boy with a big heart that valued life's simpliest pleasures the most. He spent much of his time with family and friends outdoors fishing, crabbing, hunting or out on a boat in the water. He graduated from Charleston Southern University with a bachelor's in Marine Biology. He continued his education at the Charleston Citadel where he received his master's and a PhD from Southern California University. He had been employed by DHEC where he retired as the director of the chemical/oil spills department.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents Rexford Leroy and Louis (Baumgart) Richter, a brother Walter "Buddy" Richter, and a sister Mara-Lyn Ryan. He is survived by his life partner, Mi Ae Nedrow of Ladson SC, a former spouse Lois Dane Richter of Mt. Pleasant SC, his children Kellie (Brian) Kinard Richter of Charleston SC and Bryan Richter of Charleston SC, a brother Kenneth (Susan) Richter of Hanahan SC, a sister Carolyn Joy Dasher of Pine Ridge GA and by many grandchildren who will always remember him as "Ricky Papa".
