Obituary published on Legacy.com by New Orleans Funeral and Cremation Service on Jan. 10, 2025.
Charles (Chuck) Calvin Sessums, a resident of Kenner, past resident of New Orleans, and
part-time resident of Satellite Beach, Fl., became the brightest star in Heaven on December 30,
2024. Chuck-Chuckie Boy to his Mama- was born October 18, 1950, to loving parents Joan
Sebro Sessums and Charles Gilbert Sessums. He passed away at home, listening to his favorite
music with his adored partner Kim, pup Koko and dear sister Claudia by his side.
Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea, specializing in radio cryptography, on a
remote outpost at the age of 18. Upon returning, Chuck worked at the Ear, Nose, and Throat Care
Hospital in New Orleans as a HVAC Engineer with his father. He then worked another 28 years
for the Orleans Parish School Board, prior to retiring in 2005 post Hurricane Katrina. He was a
25-year member of American Legion Post 200 in Satellite Beach, Florida.
He had a lifelong love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, (owning many), and would attend
rallies nationwide whenever possible. Music and travel were his joy, along with having a few
beers with his many friends. He loved entertaining to the point of folks doubling over in laughter
with his oft-told, hilarious stories. Anyone who knows him will attest to his pure soul, honesty,
loyalty, beautiful spirit, and love of family. He had a twinkle in his eye and an infectious smile
that was so genuine it would linger in your mind long after meeting him.
Chuck devoted the last 26 years to loving his "DARLIN," Kim McLendon Strother, of Kenner,
La. and Satellite Beach, Fl. Their love was one of such intensity that they were incomplete when
apart. He cared for and doted on Kim throughout devastating personal loss and life-threatening
illnesses. She, in turn, was always there for Chuckie, especially during the last year of his health
battles, never leaving his side. They shared a "once in a lifetime" love that was commented on by
all who knew them, even the doctors and nurses who had cared for Chuck in the last many
months.In addition to Kim and Koko, Chuck leaves to cherish his memories, brother John David
Sessums (Dorothy); sister Claudia Sessums Ross (Edward); Matthew Tollefson (Berna); Noah
and Daphne Tollefson; Thomas John Strother (Rebecca); Aidan and Katarina Strother;
brother-in-law Don McLendon (Suzanne); and the Lensing; Bodden; Verdun; Stein; McLendon;
Critchfield; Strother; Rivamonte; and Byeseda families. He was preceded in death by his parents;
brother Benjamin A. Sessums, nephew James B Pease II,Kenneth Jack Strother, as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles.
The family wishes to thank those who have supported Chuck and Kim with love and friendship,
