Janice Sessums, born February 28, 1940, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith. The third and youngest daughter of Charles and Vera Elliot, Janice grew up in a close-knit family alongside her sisters, Barbara and Loyce. Raised in the Baptist faith, she always held a deep love for Jesus Christ, which shaped her life and her relationships with others.
In her youth, Janice met and married the love of her life, Royse Don Sessums Sr., with whom she had three sons: Royse Don Jr., Richard Dean, and Russel David. Though the family faced their share of challenges, Janice's strength, independence, and fierce loyalty to her loved ones helped keep them together through even the hardest of times. She worked tirelessly to ensure her family was well cared for, providing for their needs and offering a steady hand when life became difficult.
Janice found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time fishing whenever the opportunity arose, often enjoying the peacefulness that the outdoors provided. In her quiet moments at home, she would crochet blankets and other items for her family, sharing her talent and love through each stitch. Music brought her joy, and she was especially fond of Tom Jones, Elvis, and classic country that filled her home and brought back fond memories.
Her dogs were a source of great comfort and companionship, especially Momo, who stayed by her side near the end, offering protection and comfort in the way only a loyal pet can. In her later years, Janice became more of a homebody, but she was always ready to lend a helping hand to her family whenever they needed her. Her love for her family was evident in all that she did.
Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband Royse Don Sessums Sr., her sons Russel David and Richard Dean, her parents Charles and Vera Elliot, and her sister Barbara. She is survived by her eldest son, Royse Don Jr., and his wife Angela Sessums; her grandchildren Jayme Sessums, Rachel Sessums, Royse Don III, Rebecca Sessums, and Reeta Sessums; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and her sister Loyce.
Janice's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her-through the love she gave, the strength she exhibited, and the faith she carried. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
