Mr. Charles William "Jimmy" Lampley, age 77, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2025 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home led by his son, Glen Lampley. The family will greet friends immediately following at the funeral home.
Mr. Lampley was born January 14, 1947 in Chesterfield County, SC the youngest child to the late James Robert and Mary Boan Lampley. Jimmy was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and a retired environmental engineer of Delta Mills (formerly J.P. Stevens) of Wallace, SC with over 40 years of service. He was also the former owner and operator of Deluxe Pools of Cheraw, SC for over 20 years. An avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing, Jimmy shared his love for the outdoors with his sons and many friends. From geese hunting in Maryland to deer hunting at the Savannah River plant game management area, to striped bass and catfishing in the great Santee lakes, he was most content in nature.
Mr. Lampley helped to establish the Trophy Creek hunting club in the Westfield Creek community of Chesterfield County. He also enjoyed gardening, raising ducks and chickens, and tending to his beloved grape vines. Jimmy was a man who never met a stranger and was known for quick wit telling jokes and playing pranks. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lampley was also preceded in death by his older brother, Otis Lampley; sisters, Patricia Brigman, Marilyn Burr, and Shirley Haney; and his first wife, Marolyn Sellers Haun.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sherry Lampley of the home; sons, Tim Lampley, and Glen Lampley (Kathy Lee) both of Cheraw, SC; step-daughters, Carla Anderson of Florence, SC, Lisa (Michael) Rainer of Clover, SC; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to hospice nurse, Madison Sellers; hospice aide, Jessica Burr; and the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield for their outstanding dedication to his care over the past year.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 205 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
