Charles Walker, Jr. was born on October 10, 1947 in Kansas City, KS to Charles Walker, Sr. and Tena Singleton who both proceeded him in death. He passed away at Carmel Hills Wellness and Rehabilitation Center on the morning of July 19, 2025. Charles grew up in and lived in Wyandotte County most of his life. An entrepreneur at heart, he worked primarily as a self-made domestic and commercial painter and a custodian. He was a genius when it came to engaging people and had a knack for business mathematics. Though Charles did not have a great experience with school, he maintained his custodian career in multiple facilities including BPU and Alpine North Nursing Home of Kansas City. He had a strong work ethic and maintained a high standard of excellence in all that he set his mind to.

A comical and light-hearted gentleman who never allowed life to stress him out, Charles was good natured and kind. He loved his family and cherished each moment with them. He loved fishing, cooking, landscaping, gardening, animals, puzzles, watching classic country western TV, Marlboro cigarettes, and people watching. He never met a stranger and always made people feel comfortable in his presence. Charles was a no non-sense yet caring father, committed employee, consistent, warm and loving to all who knew and loved him. He made a mean smoked brisket and loved entertaining for his family and friends for the holidays as often as he was able.

Charles was also proceeded in death by his siblings, Shelby Peterson and Gale Walker Oliver, along with his ex-wife of over 20 years, Rosalind Askew-Walker. He leaves behind: his daughter, Patrice Brewer (formerly Askew-Walker) and son-in-law, William Brewer; his grandchildren: William K. Phaedra, and Melodie Brewer (Kansas City, KS); his siblings: Wade Singelton (Dotson, LA), Jan Ruffin (Kansas City, MO), and Dale Walker (Topeka, KS); and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones who will continue to feel his absence and attempt to carry on his legacy of love.

Monetary donations and/or well wishes can be received by the immediate family either before or after Charles' Memorial Service.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who reached out with words of comfort and those joining us to celebrate our beloved father/grandfather/brother/uncle. Keep Charles' memory in your heart and keep us in your prayers.
