Winfield Walker, Jr., born December 12, 1937, to the late Winfield Walker, Sr. and Laura Cole-Evans, peacefully transitioned on August 17, 2025, at Henderson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was educated in the Henderson County School System where he excelled in basketball. He was a talented athlete who was known for his moves on the basketball court. He later received his GED. Winfield was employed at Century Aluminum (formerly Al Can), for more than 30 years until his retirement.
Winfield decided to continue his spiritual journey by visiting Little Canaan Baptist Church where he later joined in January of 2025. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Masonic Lodge #20 in Owensboro, KY, having formally served as the Worshipful Master.
Winfield was always fashionably dressed for special events and for church. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and he also enjoyed a friendly game of cards. He loved to barbecue for his friends and family.
Winfield was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Jean Walke; brother, Rev. Carl Walker; and friend/brother, Charles Sooper.
He is remembered by his children, Danny Carter, Tony Carter, and Wendell Walker, all of Henderson; John J. (Dolores) Walker of Augusta, GA, Michelle (Tyrone) Fort of Duluth, GA, Tyrone Walker of Casselberry, FL; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He will also be truly missed by his long-time friend, Wanda.
