It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Willie Ligon Jr., affectionately known as "Poediddy", “the guy on the commercial,” or simply The Legend. Willie transitioned to his eternal home on May 28, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 21, 1953, in Bells, Tennessee, to the late Willie Sr. and Catherine Ligon, Willie was a proud graduate of Bells High School and a long-time resident of Newburgh, Indiana. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Willie’s legacy is one of kindness, joy, and generosity. His infectious smile, laughter, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
For over 30 years, Willie made a lasting impact in the car industry, building friendships with customers that lasted far beyond the sale. Willie was also a passionate sports fan, particularly of the Dallas Cowboys and UK Wildcats. Above all, he shared a deep and loving bond with his wife, Kristi Ligon, a testament to love, devotion, and shared memories.
Willie is reunited in heaven with his parents, sister, brother, and other loved ones.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kristi; stepchildren, Dexter (Lashawnda) Bass, Omar (Patti) Sherron, Chelsea Owens, Alexis Owens, and Nadia Sherron; grandchildren, Dominic (Kelsey) Bass, Delicia Bass, Kaveontea Bass, Latrisha (Christopher) Sherron, Josyndra Sherron, and Tylin Sherron; sisters, Diane (Lawrence) Butler, Brenda (James) Reddick, Katie Searcy Taylor, and Linda (BJ) Godwin; brother, Reverend Ernest (Della) Ligon; nephew who he shared a special bond with, Kevin (Phyllis) Ligon; father-in-law Milton Postell, sister-in-law Kiva (Mark) Todd; and a host of great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Willie’s life was full of love, joy, and purpose, and though he is gone, his legacy of kindness, humor, and faith will forever live on.
