Samuel Edward "Sammy" O'Leary

Samuel "Sammy" Edward O'Leary, age 75, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home with his daughter by his side. Sammy was a proud United States Army Veteran. He served in the 101st Airborne out of Fort Campbell, KY. Sammy proudly wore his Screaming Eagle tattoo and often told of the many jumps he made during his service. He was one of the good ones. Sammy was a wonderful friend, a gentle soul, and always had a smile to share. He never met a stranger; he would say hello to everyone he met. He attended several churches throughout his life, but if you asked him, he would say "I know Jesus and I talk to God and I feel most comfortable at AA." Sammy was a 40 year member of AA and found his most treasured friends and biggest supporters through the program. If you ever met Sammy, you would learn pretty quickly how proud he was of his family. His daughter and grandsons were the light of his life. Sammy was preceded in death by his father Uel O'Leary, mother Anita "June" Lamb, his son Mark O'Leary, and his brother Keith O'Leary. Sammy is survived by his daughter Manda Brown and her children Clayton Mark-Thomas, and Conner Michael Brown all of Henderson, KY; sister and brother-in-law Pam and OB Stone of Waverly, KY; nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to Sammy's Life Celebration from 2:00 p.m. until the service time on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Brother Tim Shockley officiating.
