Charles Edward Weaver age, age 86, passed away on March 23, 2025, at Spring Ridge Assisted Living, Springfield, Missouri. He was born on June 6, 1938, in McDavid, Florida, to James Julius Weaver and Sallie Annell Watts Weaver. On August 4, 1963, Charles married Sandra Kay Odell, with whom he shared a life until her recent passing.
Charles pursued his education at Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida after proudly serving four years of active-duty service in the US Air Force. He later entered United States Air Force Reserves as an aircraft mechanic at Grissom AFB then later transferring to the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he joined the Air Reserve Technician, ARTS program as a civil service aircraft mechanic. He later finished his 20 years of Civil Service duty working as a Navy QA inspector at Ingalls Ship building in Pascagoula, Ms. and retired with 20 years of Reserve duty.
Charles was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He spent many years in leadership as a commander in the Royal Rangers boys' program.
He is survived by his sons, Darrin Odell Weaver and Brian Charles Weaver and their wives; his sisters, S.J. DiConcilio of Tallahassee, Florida, and Joe Ann Banks of Mobile, Alabama; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his wife Sandra, his parents, and his sister, Carol Ryan of Anchorage, Alaska.
Charles had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, painting, drawing, especially roses, leather working, and sharing jokes and stories with those around him. He was active with the Air and Military Museum in Springfield, Missouri, and his local American Legion post.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 16, 2025, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri. A memorial service will follow from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Charles will then be escorted to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery by the Warrior Watch Riders, where he will then receive full military honors at 3:00 PM, and then be laid to rest by his beloved wife, Sandra.
