Ike leaves behind a legacy of stories for a man who has lived over a century. He sold fish to customers from his home, and went "fish peddling" to rural customers. It was not unusual for Ike and his son to have over 100 hoop nets out in the river at one time. Ike was duck hunting during the 1940 Armistice Day Blizzard and barely made it back to shore. Ike and his brother Homer had a duck club on 80 acres of ground in the Sangamon River bottoms. The Browning Quackscam Raid of 1980 made history. Ike and his wife received citations along with their friends. Ike bought a farm in 1978 and enjoyed farming, raising cattle and picking mushrooms with his children. He drove until he was 98 years old. Later in his life his daughter-in-law Suzan, took him on many adventures and became a daily caregiver and his best friend. He shared a special bond with his granddaughter Tiffany. He attended Central Christian Church in Browning. Ike and his wife made a good life living along the Illinois River. He was a legend in his time and in the river bottoms. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
