Doris Darlene Smith Morrell, 88 passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. A lifelong resident of Rushville, Illinois, Doris spent her last five years in Tennessee. Born on August 19, 1936 to George Washington Smith and Pearl Heron Smith, Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Nina Smith, Agnes Wheelhouse and Grace Powell. She is survived by her five children: Joanie Morrell, Susan Ard, Kristy Shouse (Mike), Randy Morrell (Paige), and Kelly Ann Morrell-Chapman (Joe); as well as her cherished grandchildren: Raymond Shouse, Michele Potter, Shane Shouse, Crystal Roley, Lisa Prather, Meagan Trilnick, Emily Roegge, Greg Morrell, Brittany Morrell, Alex Weber, Ethan Weber, Zac Weber, and Keither Chapman. Doris was also blessed with many great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren. In her younger years, Doris worked for Mickleberry's and later at Rushville Cleaners for many years before proudly running her own laundry business. She had a deep love of genealogy and could spend countless hours researching family history. Doris also found joy in yard sales, and tending to her flower gardens. More than anything, Doris treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Her love, laughter, and her "grandma jokes, will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rushville. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church.
