Charles J. Whitmore, age 71, of Wooster, formerly of Orrville, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a sudden period of declining health.
Charles was born on May 27, 1953, in Wooster, Ohio, to the late Charles Whitmore and Ruth (Perry) North. He married Kathy (McKnight) Sowards on August 24, 2013, and they were married for ten wonderful years.
He graduated from Strongsville High School. Charles worked as a painter for 25 years in Cleveland followed by employment at a printing and folding company also located in Cleveland. He continued his professional career at Luk Engineering & Anodizing Company and most recently he worked for Amazon before retiring in April of 2018.
Charles attended Calvary Assembly of God. He found joy in going to car shows and traveling. But most of all he cherished spending time with his family, especially playing and fishing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, surviving are his three children, Charles Whitmore, Kimberly Justice, and Michelle Tate; three step-children, Rob Sowards, Jackie Marty, and Kristin Moomaw; sixteen grandchildren, Kala, Lauren, Ryan, Haley, McKenzie, Matthew, Melissa, James, Jessica, Zachary, Eric, Bradley, Joshua, Jaydon, Jaxon, and Trey; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Whitmore; mother, Ruth North; stepfather, Don North; sister, Minnie Cunningham; and brother, Carl Whitmore.
Per Charles's wishes, cremation will take place, and a memorial service is being planned for a later date.
