Charles Winters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2025.
Charles William "Chuck" Winters, 74, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Tempe, Arizona. Born on July 19, 1951, in Princeton, Indiana. Chuck lived a vibrant and full life marked by deep devotion to his family, a passion for people, and an enduring love of fun.

Chuck graduated from Princeton High School in 1969 and went on to earn a degree in Industrial Education from Indiana State University. Though he never pursued a career in education, his entrepreneurial spirit led him down a different path-one that would define much of his professional life.

After college, Chuck purchased the Palace Pool Room, which he operated for five years. It was there that his love for pool-first sparked during his teenage years-continued to flourish. He later joined forces with his business partner Rick Wheeler to become Godfather's Pizza franchisees in Ohio. For 45 years, they built and maintained a successful business together.

Chuck married the love of his life, Jeanne (Gough) Winters, and together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was the foundation of a close-knit family that brought Chuck immense joy and pride. He is lovingly remembered by their three children: Charlie and his wife Michelle with their children Urbyn, Cash, and Baylee; Natalie with her child Salem; and Casey with his children Blake, Meadow, Prezlie, and Kayden. Also, Chuck is remembered fondly by his nephew and niece, Nick and Hailee Winters.

Chuck's role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply. He remained actively involved in the lives of all eight grandchildren-teaching them lessons both big and small, just as he had done with his own children. His presence was constant-a source of laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support.

A man who loved life to its fullest, Chuck found joy in simple pleasures and grand adventures alike. In his younger years, he played golf occasionally with friends-always adding excitement with a friendly wager-and continued playing pool into adulthood. One of his most treasured memories was attending all three legs of the Triple Crown horse races in 1998 with his oldest son, Charlie. Chuck's childhood friend Mike Pegram owned Real Quiet-the horse that came within inches of winning the elusive title. Chuck served as Mike's official photographer during those races using nothing more than a small Polaroid camera which earned him the nickname, 'Flash'.

Chuck was known for his generosity and big heart. He was often the first to lend a hand when someone needed help. His fun-loving nature made him the life of any gathering-a storyteller at heart who could light up any room with laughter or reflection.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bob Winters Sr. and Lucretia Winters, as well as his brother Bob Winters Jr.

Chuck loved cruising around town or heading out on spontaneous road trips just for the joy of it. But above all else-he loved people: his family most deeply but also friends old and new. His legacy is one of warmth, humor, loyalty, and love.

May Charles William "Chuck" Winters be remembered fondly by all who knew him-and may the stories he told continue to bring smiles for generations to come. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4, 2025, from 04:00 PM to 09:00 PM at Elks Lodge 302 N. Hart St. Appetizers, Beverages & Desserts will be served.

CHUCK NOT A BAD NAME CHARLES WINTERS REST IN PEACE GOOD FRIEND. I WILL ALWAYS REMBEMBER THE TIMES WE SPENT WORKING AT Emge meat packing as we were going to college and you took over the job of grading hams, a very difficult job. You saved my hands because holding the hook to pull the hams onto the scale to weigh them were hurting my hands but did not seem to bother yours. We always argued about who was the #1 ham grader at Emges. I TAUGHT A FEW YEARS WITH YOUR WIFE AT PRINCETON COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL JEANNIE SHE IS SECOND TO NONE AND YOU BOTH HAD A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP. JEANNIE I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS CHUCK WAS A CLASS ACT AND WILL BE MISSED BUT U HAVE SO MANY GREAT MEMORIES. NOT A BAD NAME CHARLES CHARLIE MAIR

He never met a stranger and always made me laugh. So many years of knowing Chuck and his family that has flashed by so fast it seems unreal that he is gone. Jeanie, Charlie, Natalie, and Casey know that you are all loved by so many of us and always will be. So saying this, I´ll say , see you later Chuck and keep those gone before laughing until we are all together again.
