DETROIT-Charles L Woodard, 53, died on April 4, 2023, of heart complications in Pittsfield.
Charlie (lovingly nicknamed Charlie Brown) was born on March 21, 1970, the son of Duane and Rose (Richardson) Woodard. He was a roofer by trade but had a deep love and commitment to fire service. He was a member of the Detroit Fire Department for several years. He worked as a project foreman for Hammer Down and was a key part in the construction of Gram's Five & Dime stores.
Charlie had a heart of gold, was always willing to help a friend in need, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He absolutely loved his wife and family and was proud to be a Poppa.
He is survived by his wife, Jennilee Woodard; children: Lucy Sweet, Tristine St. John-Woodard, Kiana-Lyn Sheltra (Alan) and Carl Tilton; grandsons: Carson and Bentley; his mom, Rose Woodard; siblings: Annette Curtis (Chuck), Duane Jr (Mary), and Glenn Richardson Sr (Jennifer); special uncles: Donn and Marlon (Ruby); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his dad, Duane Woodard Sr; brother, Scott Woodard; and infant sister, Holly Ann Woodard.
A time of visiting will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
